The significant achievements are indeed the result of great teamwork carried out by the creative director Nicola Silvagni, the strategic manager Mario Cangini, and the technical support of Catria Confezioni. The strong fashion culture, Mario's expertise, and Nicola's creative flair, in synergy with the technical competence of the tailoring company from Pesaro, give life to this Italian brand with a strong identity.

Everything begins in 1977 when Cangini opens Space Number Five in Milano Marittima, a boutique that soon establishes itself as a reference point for the entire fashion system, revolutionizing the way of retailing. Within this store, Mario offers a refined selection of unique vintage pieces and new garments from carefully curated exclusive brands.

The innovative concept of the store proves successful and leads Mario to open additional retail outlets in Ravenna, Florence, and Cesena. They both share the same aesthetic sensibility, an identical vision of style, and above all, the intuitive ability to perceive trends before they become mainstream. In 2007, the two friends decide to launch their own brand, Department Five, with themselves at the helm: Silvagni in the creative lead and Cangini in the strategic role. Their first collection is entirely for men and aims to merge functionality and style. This collection is entirely made in Italy through a partnership with Catria Confezioni, which produces and enhances Department Five designs with the exquisite quality of selected fabrics and expert tailoring.

In 2010, they release their first women's line, reinterpreting the characteristics of men's clothing blended with current trends in women's fashion. In 2018, a new showroom is inaugurated in Milan, and subsequently, the brand exports its collections to Spain.
